The debut of modernist Raf Simons at the revered house of Dior was the hot couture ticket in Paris yesterday. A floral-scented salon and floor-to-ceiling blooms set the scene for a collection inspired by flowers – the original influence behind Christian Dior’s famed New Look silhouette back in 1947.
According to our senior catwalk editor, Sue Evans, what resulted was a “marriage made in heaven, as Simons combined the house’s archival DNA with his signature minimal silhouettes, bringing a new sculptural restraint into play that was perfectly pitched at today’s modern couture customer”.
So so so so perfect.
